Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 budget processor ?
Qualcomm recently unveiled its latest mobile processor, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. This chipset comes with a range of impressive features and improvements over its predecessor, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.
The CPU of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is manufactured by TSMC using its advanced 4nm process. It consists of a 1x Cortex-A715 core clocked at 2.63GHz, 3x performance cores running at 2.4GHz, and 4x efficiency cores operating at 1.8GHz. This configuration allows for a balance between power and energy efficiency, catering to different use cases and optimizing performance.
In terms of graphics capabilities, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is equipped with the Adreno 720 GPU. This GPU offers a 50% increase in performance compared to the previous generation, enabling a smoother and more immersive gaming and multimedia experience.
For seamless connectivity, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 features the X63 5G modem. This modem enables fast and reliable 5G connectivity, allowing users to access high-speed internet and take advantage of the latest network capabilities.
The display capabilities of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 are also noteworthy. It supports displays with resolutions up to 4K at 60Hz and FHD+ at 168Hz, providing users with sharp and vibrant visuals for an enhanced viewing experience.
In terms of camera capabilities, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 incorporates the Spectra ISP, which can handle 4K HDR video at 60Hz and supports a main camera with up to 200MP resolution. Additionally, the AI Remosaic feature enhances the camera performance by capturing sharper and higher-resolution photos, eliminating issues like discoloration and graininess.
When compared to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 offers significant improvements. It boasts a 15% increase in CPU performance, a 50% faster Adreno GPU, and a 60% faster AI. These enhancements translate into improved overall performance and responsiveness for various applications and tasks.
It is worth noting that Qualcomm did not compare the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 with the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 because the latter is considered a more performance-oriented chipset. The Snapdragon 7s series focuses on energy efficiency, the standard Snapdragon 7 series emphasizes overall user experience, while the Snapdragon 7+ targets high-performance use cases.
The Vivo V30 and Honor 100 have been announced as the first devices to feature the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor. Users can expect these smartphones to deliver a smooth and powerful performance, complemented by advanced features and capabilities.
Finally, it is mentioned that MediaTek will be launching the Dimensity 8300 chipset, which is expected to be more powerful than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. The Dimensity 8300's release is scheduled for November 21st, presenting another option for users seeking high-performance mobile processors.
